What is a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice?

The Modubuild manufacturing technician apprenticeship program is a fantastic earn and learn opportunity that combines on the job training with academic study in a fast paced and innovative international design and engineering company. Apprentices will learn the skills, knowledge and behaviours necessary for a successful career in manufacturing and beyond.

What is a Manufacturing Technician Apprentice?

The Manufacturing Technician apprentice provides technical support functions for manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting equipment and process issues, validation and qualification activities of the manufacturing site through the creation and support of necessary validation documentation for equipment, process and product release. 

 

They will work both autonomously and cross-functionally with Production, Operations, Engineering Support, Quality, Facilities, and Safety to ensure that the engineering They will also work in establishing and coordinating corrective/preventive maintenance activities for Production/Operations equipment within the manufacturing site.

Who is this apprenticeship for?

The manufacturing apprenticeship is for career starters; school leavers, career changers; those who wish to reskill and career progressors; those who wish to upskill. The Modubuild apprenticeship program gives the opportunity for apprentices to work in an international company and be involved in leading modular construction projects across Ireland and Europe.

Structure of the Apprenticeship

The manufacturing technician apprenticeship is a 2 year course which includes a 15 week block release to the following education institutions; Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Munster Technological University, Limerick Institute of Technology & Institute of Technology Sligo. 

The remainder of the programme is spent on the job getting hands-on experience across all of our active sites including our state of the art 140,000 sq ft manufacturing facility and rotating across all areas of our business such as design, quality, health and safety, operations, engineering etc.

  • Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must have obtained a minimum of 5 O6 (pass) grades in their Leaving Certificate examination results. These subjects must include Grade O6/H7 or better in Mathematics and English or Irish. A minimum of 250 CAO points is required.
  • The Leaving Certificate Applied does not meet the minimum entry requirements to Institute programmes. Holders of the LCA may gain entry following completion of a FETAC Level 5/6 Award.

  • Throughout the duration of the programme we offer dedicated learning and development support in addition to support from our wider team and the mentor of the programme to ensure all apprentices are given the required level of support and information to successfully complete their apprenticeship.

    Following successful completion of the Manufacturing Technician L6 which awards a Higher Certificate of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering (apprenticeship) , an additional 3rd year participation in the apprenticeship programme will award you a QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering, this is optional.
