We are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible  for managing the surveying function of their allocated projects for the company.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The QS is responsible for reviewing and approving the contract documents and provide support to the financial controller and directors in relation to the contract.
  • They liaise with architects, consultants, engineers and clients in relation to all commercial functions of the specific project.
  • Review all tender commercial documents and cost sheets in detail to ensure that opportunities to improve margins are identified and implemented.
  • Ensure that supplier price lists and discount structures are kept up to date and all commercial information is saved to a shared location.
  • Issuing enquiries to suppliers & subcontractors to obtain quotations for tenders & projects when required.
  • Compiling and maintaining the ‘Material and Labour Source’ document for projects that have numerous specialist suppliers/ subcontractors. Ensuring that purchase orders are placed in a timely fashion, taking into consideration lead-in times.
  • Ensure that materials being purchased on projects are as per the products proposed at tender stage, taking into account relevant variations. Ensuring that products and services are within the allowed budget. 
  • Ensuring that Purchase orders for materials, labour, and sub-contractors are placed as agreed at project kick-off meeting and as per requests made by the site manager.
  • Ensuring that tenders are submitted before the stated deadline. 
  • Pricing variations and dayworks as and when they arise and submitting costs to client. Obtaining the relevant client approvals.
  • Ensuring that valuations and variations for projects that are the responsibility of the Quantity Surveyor are submitted in a timely fashion in accordance with agreed dates.
  • Agreeing order values, variations and final accounts with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Maximise the payment certified amount, and obtain a copy of the payment certificate to allow the commercial department to invoice the work.
  • Agreeing final account with client and obtaining an agreement certificate.

Key Requirements of the role include:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Professional qualification in QS or relevant discipline.
  • Organised with the ability to pay attention to detail. 
  • Good time management and scheduling skills necessary with knowledge of public procurement and/or construction related documentation an advantage.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills required, for example; Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Packages (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs).
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written and spoken communication skills.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering drawings and documents (both specific and generic) and ensuring the delivery of the design brief using your technical building expertise.
  • Liaising with the Design Manager/ Project Engineer/Construction Manager to complete the design of projects and to ensure all the requirements quoted are included in the design.
  • Reviewing the design drawings, documents and procurement schedules with the Design Manager/Project Engineer prior to issue. 
  • Reporting directly to supervisors/team leaders to ensure deadlines are met and details of the project are produced accurately and efficiently.
  • Liaising with Design Manager/Project Engineer and site management team to update documents where necessary.
  • Ensure that project files are kept up to date with all relevant project correspondence.
  • Ensure that handover documentation is compiled and issued appropriately.
  • Placing of material orders with suppliers and approval of supplier schedules.
  • Visiting site to record survey information with the Project Engineer/ Site Manager.
  • Maintain registers as per Quality Management System.
  • Issuing documents to clients as requested.
  • Issuing enquiries to suppliers to obtain quotations where necessary.

Key Requirements Include:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role.
  • Professional design qualification an advantage.
  • Strong computer skills required, for example; REVIT, Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Packages (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs).

  • They are responsible for managing all on site construction activities.
  • Implementing all project related quality procedures.
  • Implementation of all quality and safety procedures, and ensuring that all personnel and sub-contractors are in compliance with these procedures.
  • Making sure that all documentation is in place to allow works to proceed.
  • Ensuring that agreed construction schedules are in place and agreed with the client before commencement, and monitoring progress to ensure that relevant targets are achieved.
  • Monitoring non-conformances and ensuring that relevant reports are completed and reviewed with construction director within two weeks of occurrence.
  • Maintaining client relationships, and ensuring that all commitments made are achieved.
  • Ensuring that all materials, plant, sub-contractors and labour are allocated to the project in sufficient time to ensure that target dates are met.
  • Making sure that the project is constructed on or below the budget amount provided at tender stage. To ensure that all scope changes are communicated back to the commercial department and approval is obtained prior to commencement of scope change site activity. 

Key Requirements of the role include:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive Knowledge of modular construction methods.
  • Organised with the ability to pay attention to detail. 
  • Good project management skills including use of Microsoft Project.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working with the EHS Manager to ensure Modubuild’s compliance with EHS legislation.
  • Working with the EHS Manager and Site Team to develop Health and safety plan, site specific safety statement, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Implementing and monitoring project safety documentation.
  • Attending site safety meetings.
  • Monitoring site safety and observing for potential hazards.
  • Reporting safety issues to the EHS Manager and Construction Director
  • To advise the site team on EHS issues.
  • Devising and implementing safe systems of work.
  • Ensure all personnel are site safety inducted by both Modubuild & the client.
  • Ensure that all direct employees & sub contractors have signed the method statement & all revised method statements thereafter.
  • Ensure all plant & equipment is in good working condition.
  • Ensure all fall arrest equipment is in good working order with no defects
  • Decommission defective & faulty equipment. 
  • Ensure all personnel have the correct training to suit their task.
  • Maintaining site training matrix.
  • To ensure that toolbox talks are held with all site personnel on a weekly basis or otherwise when required.   
  • To conduct site safety audits & notify the client if any safety issues arise in the site safety audit.
  • Report finding to the Modubuild EHS Manager.

Key Requirements/Competencies include:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • Organised with the ability to pay attention to detail. 
  • Professional safety qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of EHS legislation.

  • Entering data from source documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Creating and managing spreadsheets with a large quantity of data in order for information to be easily accessed at all times.
  • Liaising and communicating with multiple departments across the organisation in order to gather information and ensure all databases are kept up to date.
