Apprenticeship Information:
- Duration of the apprenticeship is 2 years composed of 15 week off the job training in LIT per year
- On the job training will be completed in our 140,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Castlecomer and on our active projects across Ireland
- Qualification obtained following completion of the apprenticeship is a QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate in Manufacturing Technology
- Option of a 1 year add on once the apprenticeship is completed to obtain a QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering
Reporting to: Technical Manager
Skills Obtained during the apprenticeship:
- Use engineering principles to make data driven decisions and apply technical judgment to product design and to continuously improve manufacturing processes
- Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create advanced 3D models and use standards parts libraries for the selection of appropriate components required for use in manufacturing and assembly processes
- Partner with project team members to create, execute and document activities associated with equipment validation and release
- Analyse, develop and implement preventive actions which proactively resolve product, process and systems issues
- Perform lean manufacturing analysis (Value Stream mapping, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Take Time Calculation, Process Throughput measurement, 5S) to identify areas for improvement, and solve problems
- Configure and operate manual, automated and ancillary production equipment required for the manufacturing process
- Quality assurance, safety compliance systems and quality management principles needed in manufacturing and service organisations
Experience Requirement:
- Pass (Grade O6 or better) in five leaving certificate subjects, 2 of which must be maths and a language (English or Irish) 250 CAO points; In the case of a mature student (over 23 years) an industry interview is required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
